The foundation for success (III)

WELCOME to your regular column. Last week, we studied how love can grant you access to God’s secrets, for success in your life and career. This week, I will be teaching on another key to divine success — meekness.

The Word of God says: The meek will he guide in judgment; and the meek will he teach his way (Psalm 25:9). The meek automatically has access to the secrets of success. God has no time for the proud or arrogant. He does not bother about them!

The Bible described Moses as the meekest man on earth (Numbers 12:3). No wonder, he had so much revelation in the things of God and walked with Him. So, he meeker you are, the greater your access to God’s secrets for success.

Jesus, the most successful man that ever lived, was meek! That was what gave Him access to God’s secrets of triumph. On different occasions in the Bible, He said, “I can of my own do nothing...” (John 8:28). No wonder, He never ran out of revelation. Instead, He rode prosperously and in majesty (Psalm 45:4).

The meekness factor has no substitute. You have to be willing to learn, by having a teachable spirit. Proud people don’t have teachable spirit. God resists them and they don’t go far in life (1 Peter 5:5). I have never seen any proud person who has gone far in life! This is the truth! If you must succeed in life, you need meekness.

Friend, the grace to be meek is available, if you are connected to God. You get connected by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. You can do so now as you say this prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner, I can’t help myself. Forgive me my sins. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me. Now I know I am born again!

Divine turning point

Dear Reader,

We have been divinely directed to consider briefly today a theme titled, “Divine Turning Point” with special reference to some of the scriptural examples (Bible characters), for the purpose of gaining an insight into how we too may succeed in experiencing positive divine turning point in our own lives too, irrespective of the situation we may be passing through at present.

Meaning: A turning point is a time at which an event or change occurs which greatly affects the future of a person or people. “Divine Turning Point” therefore refers to a significant change brought about by God on the life of a particular person or people at a particular point in time as a result of the person’s or people’s relationship to God. Such as turning point may be positive (i.e. favourable) or negative (i.e. unfavourable or disastrous as a result of nemesis, such as Judas Iscariot, Ananias and Saphira, etc). For now, let us look at the positive aspects of divine turning point. This turning point may result in physical or spiritual success as in the case of Abraham, Noah, Rahab, Obed-edom, Lazarus, Paul, the Samaritan woman, and many others. Let us quickly look at some of these examples so as to draw some lessons from their lives.

Obed-Edom: In 2 Samuel 6:10, 11, the Bible says, “He (David) was not willing to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. (ii) The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed him and his entire household.” Uzzar had died instantly for touching the Ark, but God blessed Obed-edom’s home, where the Ark was stored. This demonstrates the two-edged aspect of God’s power. He is perfectly loving and perfectly just. Great blessings come to those who obey His commands. But severe judgment comes to those who disobey Him. Along with God’s blessings comes the responsibility to live up to his demands for fairness, honesty and justice. Obed-Edom lived righteously before God, and this earned him sudden abundant blessings from God within three months. This may be your lot too, if you will only trust God and obey His commands for fairness, honesty and justice. This day will be your own divine turning point for good in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Noah: He was the only believer or follower of God in his generation. He believed God, trusted and obeyed Him in building the Ark and at the same time warning the then world for 120 years to stop evil, wickedness and godlessness. Hence God protected him and his wife, his three sons and their three wives (totalling eight people). God blessed Noah greatly—while He wiped out the entire human race by the great flood (Gen. 7:1; 9:11). God is faithful to those who obey Him totally throughout a Christian’s life. It is only by absolute faithfulness to God and total obedience to His commandments at all times that we may experience divine turning point in our lives. God’s guidance, protection, blessings and salvation are assured the true children of God.
