GOAL-HUNTING -Yakubu Aiyegbeni

Everton manager,David Moyes has warned Yakubu Aiyegbeni he must maintain top form to see off the fierce competition for striking places at Everton.

The £11.25million club record buy has his goal against Bolton on Wednesday a minute before half time ruled out because team-mate Tim Cahill was offside.

“He has 11 goals in the opening half of the season and if he does that in the second half we’ll be more than delighted,” said manager David Moyes.

“We’ve got good competition, so if Yak switches off then someone else can come in.”

However,Yakubu has promised he is out to give Everton fans his best by scoring plenty of goals at Godison Park.

Meanwhile, Bolton boss Gary Megson believes that Everton can only be surpassed by the ‘big four’.

He said: “They are arguably the best team outside the top four. They must be to have beaten Sunderland 7-1.”
