HID marks 70th wedding anniversary

THE matriach of the Awolowo dynasty and the Yeye Oodua, Chief (Mrs.) Hanah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, on Tuesday celebrated her 70th wedding anniversary with the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, describing the journey as “so far, so good.”
Chief (Mrs.) Awolowo, who had a thanksgiving service at the Ajina residence of the Awolowos, later entertained guests.
Mrs. Awolowo said she had every reason to thank God because He has been so kind to her in all aspects.
“Every thing I asked, God has given me. I am grateful to Him,” she said.
Asked to mention her happiest day in life, she said “everyday is my happiest day. I am always happy.”
Chief (Mrs.) Awolowo used the occasion to thank all Nigerians for always celebrating good things with her.
Dignitaries at the occasion included Chief G.O.K. Ajayi (SAN) and his wife, Olayinka; former Lagos State governor, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and his wife, Abimbola; Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Chief Tiwalade Sobo and Mr. Sola Okusanya.
Others included Prince Olayinka Badmus, Prince Tayo Soyode, Mr. Olayiwola Sonariwo, Mrs. Morayo Sonowo, Chief (Mrs.) Mercy Owolara, Chief (Mrs.) Olufunmilayo Awoyemi, Mr. Ola Awobade, Mr. Ajayi Sunday Samuel, Prince Yinka Onakade, Deaconness Yemisi Onakole, Chief (Mrs.) Comfort Olutunde, the Iya Egbe Aya Bishop, Our Saviours Anglican Church, among others.
The African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc team was led by the Managing Director, Mr. Segun Olatunji. Other members of the team included Editor, Nigerian Tribune, Mr. Abiodun Raufu; Controller, Internal Audit, Mr. Dayo Adepoju; Chief Accountant, Dr. Jimoh Olaoye and Editor, Sunday Tribune, Mr. Edward Dickson.
HID’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were all at the occasion.
