I regret admitting bad elements into PDP - George

DEPUTY National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Chief Olabode George, has said that he regretted admitting “some bad elements” into the party’s fold in Lagos State.

Chief George said this at a reception organised for him in Lagos on Sunday night to mark his 62nd birthday by some members of the party in the state.

He explained that the party made mistakes in admitting some people into its fold, because their antecedents and political attitudes did not fit into the culture of the party.

“It is clear that in opening our doors indiscriminately to new members, we have unwittingly taken in some men and women whose antecedents and political attitudes do not fit into the culture of the PDP.”

He said some came into the party to pursue inordinate ambition and, because of their desperation, they cared less about the interest of the party, and as such, threatened the unity of the party, “because they do not care about decency.

“They have disturbed our peace, sowed the seed of discord and sought to damage the image of our party in the eyes of the world.”

Chief George, who described his speech as a valedictory message to members of the party in the state, because he would soon vacate his position, assured them that the future of the party in the state was bright and urged members to be committed to any assignment given to them.

Speaking earlier, the acting chairman of the party, Mr. Bayo Williams, appealed to some members of the party who had instituted legal actions against it to withdraw the suit in the interest of the party.
