3.3m Nigerians are unemployed - NDE

THE National Directorate of Employment
(NDE) said it had in its register, 3,334,089 unemployed Nigerians as at June, 2007.
The Director General, Dr. Samuel Adelodun, disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the Nigerian Newsworld magazine forum.
According to him, states with high number of unemployed are Kano, 11.07 per cent; Lagos, 10.59 per cent; Bauch, 6.63 per cent; Katsina, 4.12 per cent; Ebonyi, 3.60 per cent; and Jigawa, 3.18 per cent.
States with low unemployment figures are the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 1.04 per cent: Kwara,1.05 per cent; Zamfara,1.10per cent; Nasarawa,1.23 per cent; Kebbi,1.23 per cent; and Taraba-1.24 per cent.
On gender distribution of the figures, Dr. Adelodun said, “nationally, 62.44 per cent of the registered unemployed are males while 37.56 per cent are females.
