Niger PDP prepares for congress

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State is set to hold its congress next month, even as the leader of the party and the the nstate governor, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, has vowed not to interfere in the selection process.

To ensure an acrimony-free congress, the party had re-zoned the positions among the tree senatorial districts of the state.

According to the Nigerian Tribune findings, the state chairman of the party would now come from Zone A while the secretary would move to Zone Cwith Zone B having the treasurer of the party.

It was learnt that the party also agreed that all positions should be filled taking into account, the offices being held by each of the local government area in the new state government.

So far, five politicians had expressed their intention to vie for the chairmanship of the party, among them, the incumbent deputy chairman, Alhaji Yahaya Hassan, and the outgoing zonal vice chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdullai Santali.
