Kogi varsity lecturers threaten strike

ACADEMIC activities at the Kogi State University, Anyigba, may be disrupted if the threat by the university’s branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is anything to go by.

In a resolution passed by the union, a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Lokoja, the union called on the management of the institution to meet its demands within seven days or it would embark on strike.

The union called on the institution to pay all the arrears owed its members and the consolidated Universities Academic Salary Scale, as is the practice in other universities.

The union also expressed dismay at the discrepancy in the 2006/2007 promotion exercise.

It expressed worry over what it called the porous security at the campus and called for proper illumination in the buildings and streets, while also calling for the review of excess workload allowance of its members.
