N3.4m Public Fund: I Was Not Indicted –LG Chairman

CHAIRMAN of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Pastor John Ademilua, has described as untrue the media report that he was indicted by the Public Account Committee of the State House of Assembly for alleged misappropriation of N3.4 million council funds.

The council boss was summoned before the Honourable Olabode Odebunmi-led House Committee about three weeks ago to defend his council’s quarterly income and expenditure at the Assembly Complex in Ado-Ekiti.

Reports had it that for failing to substantiate how the money was spent, he was subsequently indicted by the committee and was asked to refund the money to the council treasury. He was also admonished to have respect for public funds entrusted in his care.

However, speaking with newsmen in his office at Igede-Ekiti on Thursday, Ademilua said that contrary to the media report, he was never indicted, adding that what the House committee did on that day was a routine check as part of the oversight functions of the legislature.
