Olufon’s palace burgled

Tunde Oyekola, Osogbo - 27.03.2008

Few days to the coronation of the new Olufon of Ifon-Orolu, Oba Al-Maroof Magbagbeola, the palace of the Olufon has been burgled by people believed to be hoodlums.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the hoodlums removed electrical appliances and window paines worth several millions of naira. Other the items removed were airconditioners, fans and other household equipment as well as vehicles of the late Olufon, Oba Ilufemiloye Orisatoyinbo.

It was learnt that efforts were being made by the coronation committee, headed by Mr. Kamorudeen Ajisafe, to replace the stolen items while the palace had been renovated.

Oba Magbagbeola, while commenting, described the incident as the work of the devil, adding that the wish of Almighty God has triumphed over the evil planned by the hoodlums.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the coronation committee, Mr. Ajisafe has said that the state governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, would present the staff of office to Oba Magbagbeola on Saturday.

Foremost traditional rulers, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade; the Alafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, are expected to grace the coronation, which will hold on Saturday at Ifon, in Osun State.
