Jubilations in Lokoja, Owerri - Kogi AC keeps mum

In Kogi State, Tuesday judgment was received with jubilation as PDP supporters in the state commended the judiciary for sparing the country from being plunged into anarchy by the opposition.

Jubilants told the Nigerian Tribune in Lokoja that the judgment was the best thing to happen to the country.

The state chairman of PDP professionals, Dr Tom Ohikere, said "the rule of law is at work and the judgment is in place and appropriate at this time of our nation building."

But the state chairman of Action Congress declined to comment on the judgment, claiming that he had neither seen nor gone through the judgment, "so for now, I cannot make any comment because I have not read or seen the judgment, please wait till I go through it", he said.

Also in Owerri, Imo State, it was a jubilation galore immediately the tribunal upheld the victory of President Umaru Yar’Adua.

People came out with Nigerian flags in solidarity with the president and his vice.

Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune in Owerri, the Deputy National Coordinator of Yar’Adua Jonathan Actualization Movement (YAJOAM), Chief Innocent Alonza Amadi, said that it was a deserved victory.

He urged political opponents to allow Mr. President to settle down and concentrate to give Nigerians dividends of democracy.

Chief Amadi appealed to those whose cases are still pending in the election petition tribunal to withdraw their cases in the interest of the nation.
