Court jails fake police woman

on Tuesday sentenced a fake police woman, Miss Kehinde Elegbeleye, who had been duping members of the public to five years imprisonment with hard labour.
Kehinde, 25 years, who was arraigned on a two count charge of impersonating and unlawful possession of police uniform was sentenced to jail in respect of the first count but was given an option of paying a N40,000 fine in respect of the second count.
The court found her guilty of impersonating contrary to section 434, unlawful possession of police uniform punishable under section 428 of the criminal code.
Delivering judgement, the trial Magistrate, Mr Jide Falola, said the convict was a gifted liar, who was naturally endowed in the art and science of deception.”
Mr Falola described her as an evil genius who, who while on bail, committed crimes in Kaduna, Oyo and Lagos respectively and jumped bail twice.
The Magistrate said that the convict was a graduate of police college in Kano and Ikeja, but later dismissed from the force for using fake result to secure the appointment.
He said while in the force, Kehinde promoted herself from corporal to inspector and served as a fake inspector in Ondo after being recruited into the force.
He also said the convict ran into trouble while serving in Ondo State police command, when a suspect escaped from detention, adding that she and 13 other police officers were dismissed from the force.
