Fayose: Group alleges plans to jump bail ...It is a figment of their imagination - Fayose

EKITI Justice and Equity Movement (EJEM) has alleged that there is a plot by the former governor of the state, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, to run away from the country again, thereby scuttling the impending murder cases hanging on his neck.

EJEM, in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti over the weekend, alerted security agencies in the country that Fayose had perfected plans to escape from the country again ,using one of his numerous passports.

However, the former governor has denied the allegation which he described as baseless, stating that he would never make any attempt to obstruct the course of justice by jumping bail as alleged by EJEM.

EJEM, in the statement signed by its Secretary General, Comrade Ebenezer Olaleye, alleged that Fayose had a meeting with top notchers of his movement, Ayo Fayose Foundation and Movement (AFFM) immediately he was released on bail from Ikoyi Prisons last Thursday evening where the plan to escape was perfected.

“We have reliably gathered that Fayose may escape from the country any moment from now. This is to prevent his imminent trial for the multiple murder charges that have been preferred against him.

“A meeting was held with some members of AFFM immediately after his (Fayose) release from Ikoyi Prison on Thursday where it was concluded that it was better for Fayose to leave the country than face the humiliation of being tried and convicted for murder.

Speaking to Sunday Tribune through one of his loyalists, Chief Segun Akinwunmi, a former commissioner in the state, former Governor Fayose, however, described the allegation as baseless, stating that he voluntarily show ed up at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) last December to clear his name of an alleged financial misconduct.

"Without any prompting, Fayose last December voluntarily showed up at EFCC last December to clear his name of an alleged financial misconduct. How on earth can this so-called EJEM now stand up now to say that he would jump bail? They are doing the biddings of their master by giving the dog a bad name in order to hang it.

"I have said it severally, and I will restate it here that former Governor Fayose is not the problem of the state. The present administration is simply intimidated by Fayose's increasing popularity and is therefore looking for a way to scuttle the man's gorwing positive image and acceptance among Ekiti people.

"However, rather than embarking on a futile journey that would not yield any positive result at the end of the day, I would advise Governor Segun Oni to concentrate more on good governance and deliver on his electoral promises to the good people of Ekiti State," he said.
