Warri refinery to start work soon

IMPORTATION of fuel into the country would soon drop as the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) will be re commissioned in the next two weeks. General Manager, Public Affairs of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), Dr. Livi Ajuonuma gave the ray of hope in Warri, Delta State during a luncheon organised for journalists.

He said repair works carried out to enable the refinery come back on stream have been completed and that WRPC would be re commissioned in a matter of weeks.

With this development, he acknowledged that reliance on importation of fuel would drop by close to 50 per cent as the refinery would work in full blast. Dr. Ajuonuma said that Nigerian Engineers have successfully put the refinery back to shape and assured that it would soon be commissioned and the issue of fuel scarcity permanently addressed in the country.

“The Warri Refinery is in the verge of being re-commissioned in few weeks time. We appeal to you Journalists in this area to appreciate the environment we work and support the company”, he added.

In his own contribution, the Managing Director of WRPC, Engr. Andy Yakubu expressed delight in the performance of the Indigenous Engineers that carried out the repair noting that they had proved that they can perform well like their counterparts elsewhere.
