Ebira youths, embrace peace

LET me use a space in your most esteemed paper to call on the youths in Ebiraland to please let peace reign in their domain in order to achieve the most sort after political aspiration the people are yearning for.

Since the inception of the present political dispensation in Nigeria and the subsequent creation of Kogi State, the Ebira people justifiably want to ensure they clinch the number one position of the state, which they desperately need to ensure power balance by all means possible.

This development has thrown the entire Ebiraland into agitation, making sure they clinch the prime position of the state. Kogi State happens to have three major tribes which need to be carried along to ensure its aspiration of securing prime position is achieved.

The recent violence in Ebiraland has been a source of concern to the peace loving people of Kogi State which has made Kogi State one of the flash point in Nigeria. The Ebira youths should understand that those who are asking them to go into political violence have their relations somewhere enjoying themselves. For them to be relevant, the Ebira youths should understand that violence in any form would not result in getting what they are looking for. The story going round is that let the Ebira continue to kill themselves afterall, they are depopulating themselves.

We all know how the great sons and daughters of the Ebira fought for the creation of Kogi State, whereever they may be, they would not be happy seeing what is happening in the Ebiraland. The youths in Ebiraland have proven to be the most enlighten, educated, intelligent and above all hard working. Let me call on them to use those skills they are noted for, for the progress, development, peace and unity of not only the Ebiraland, but Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole. Oluyole Club appreciates LG chairman

I wish to use this medium to express the appreciation of the entire members of Oluyole Elite Club to the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Alhaji (Honourable) Abideen Olasunkanmi Salami, for the landmark achievements recorded in the council area by his administration.

True to his words, during the last campaign before he came into the office as the executive chairman of the local government, Honourable Salami had made the impact of his administration felt throughout the nooks and crannies of the council area.

Among others, the youths, market men and women, farmers group, community development associations (CDAs) and the staff of the local government had all reaped the dividends of democracy provided by Honourable Salami’s administration.

Rural roads were graded to provide motorable roads for farmers to transport their farm produce, classrooms blocks were constructed to boost education while maternity centres were built to provide healthcare at the doorsteps of the local government inhabitants.

Students of the council’s origin enjoyed regular payment of bursary award, workers salaries were paid as andwhen due while CDAs enjoyed regular grants in aid from his administration.

For these and other achievements too numerous to mention, Honourable Salami should be supported by the people of Oluyole Local Government for a second term in office to enable him do more.
