The acting Rector of
the Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi in Edo State, Sir Louis Akagbosu, has commended the Federal Government for its commitment to the development of technical education in Nigeria.
Besides, Sir Akagbosu lauded President Umaru Yar’Adua’s administration for re-awakening the Federal Government’s interest in the polytechnic education as against the decision of the previous administration to scrap it.
The acting rector gave the commendation at the weekend in Auchi while commenting on the recent donations made to the polytechnic by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Education Trust Fund (ETF).
The NDDC had donated a tractor with accessories such as a trailer, a three-disc bottom plough, time cultivator and a shrub master.
The ETF, on its part, donated a series of automobile, electrical, civil and chemical equipment to the polytechnic. The materials donated included a computerised wheel balancing and alignment machine, digital circuit experiment box, microscopic image computer analysis system and bench tri-axial test apparatus.
