Bauchi crisis: Yuguda threatens to resign - As House moves to impeach deputy gov

visits Bauchi State tomorrow to officially present the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag to his son-in-law, Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda, the governor has threatened to resign from the comfort of his office, if that will be the only option for the state to move forward economically.
Yuguda, who spoke in an emotion laden voice, while stressing the importance of the president’s visit, declared that he prefered to sacrifice his political career in order to advance the developmental cause of the state and noted that there was no way he would remain in office, while the state continued to suffer economic deprivation.
According to him, "I prefer to sacrifice my political career and allow the state to move forward rather than preside over the state that is not growing industrially,” stating that his desire was to reposition the state to be one of the leading economic states in the federation. He explained that it was the desire to move the state forward that informed the decision to defect from the party that brought into office (ANPP) and rejoined his former party, the ruling PDP.
Meanwhile, the political crisis that engulfed the state in the last few months has deepened, following the serving of an impeachment notice on the Deputy Governor, Mohammed Garba Gadi, by the State House of Assembly after months of horse-trading.
The crisis stated when Governor Yuguda defected to the PDP. The notice, in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic, contained impeachable offences said to have been committed by the deputy governor.
Though, sources said he had not been able to read the contents of the notice, as at the time of this report, it said that it contained seven major impeachable offences as outlined by the Constitution, while he has been given the next seven days to reply to all the offences, impeachment moves proper would commence in the House.
