Ban on loan: Traditional rulers flay Ogun House resolution

The last may not be heard on the con tentious resolution 167 passed by the Ogun State House of Assembly, a few weeks ago, barring all financial institutions from lending money to the state government, as the Remo Traditional Council of Obas on Thursday, condemned the resolution.

This was said at a press conference held at the Akarigbo’s palace, Ita-Oba, Sagamu, which had in attendance the Paramount ruler of Remoland, Oba (Dr.) Michael Adeniyi Sonariwo and other traditional rulers from the area.

Addressing the conference on behalf of the Council, the Elepe of Epe Sagamu, Oba Adewale Osiberu, said the lawmakers should look beyond trivial politics on issues that affected the development of the state.

The council noted that the passage of the resolution was coming at a time the state government was about to issue a N50 billion, in order to fund some key projects in the state.

He therefore, appealed to the House to reverse its decision and allow the state government to get the bond and use the proceed for projects that would benefit the people of the state.

The Council also restated its commitment and unalloyed support to the Gbenga Daniel-led administration in the state. His words: “The Remo Traditional Council condemns the action of the House of Assembly in passing the said resolution 167 which is against the interest of the good people of Ogun State.
