Robbers attack policemen in Ibadan, injure one

A policeman was
wounded when
suspected armed robbers opened fire on some policemen in Ibadan Tuesday.
According to an eyewitness, the incident occurred around 11.00 p.m. at Efunsetan Roundabout whena detachment of policemen stopped two jeeps and a Toyota Corolla car for a routine check, unaware that the occupants of the two vehicles were armed robbers.
The robbers, the Nigerian Tribune learnt, immediately opened fire, injuring one policeman, a corporal, who received bullet wounds on both legs.
The policeman was taken to the University College Hospital (UCH), where he was said to be responding to treatment.
Police Public Relations Officer, Ms. Olabisi Okuwobi, stated that the case had been transferred to the State Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).
