OOU Students To Present Position Paper On Fees

THE students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, are to present a proposed increase in fees to the university senate.

This was part of the outcome of a meeting between the senate of the university and the students’ union government on Thursday.

The meeting, which started in the afternoon, continued till the evening. According to a press statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the university, Oduwole, the senate explained to the students that the university authorities would review the fees so as to be able to render more quality services to the students.

The students on their own explained that they did not deliberately shut the gate against the Vice Chancellor and other officers of the university.

Rather, they said Parliament had agreed to hold a congress where the issue of the increased fees would be discussed. But as a way of preventing external forces from hijacking the congress , they had to lock the gate.

The Senate commended the maturity displayed by the students and urged their matured approach in dealing with issues within and outside the university.

The senate also added that the issue of the fees increase was not final.
