NURTW Warns On Plan To Cause Crisis

THE National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ogun State, has alerted the public of plan by some disgruntled elements within the union to use the absence of its chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa, to cause mayhem in the state.

This was contained in a release signed by the union's Secretary, Comrade Kayode Agbeyangi. The release stated that the aim of the hoodlums masquerading as unionists, according to investigation, is to forcefully effect change of leadership in the union in the state.

It stated further that "for avoidance of doubt, the masterminds of this nefarious plan had been suspended by the leadership of the union at the National level due to acts the union considered inimical to the progress of the union both at the state and national level.

"It must also be made clear that the order of their suspension subsists until there is a counter-order by the union, and this can only be when it is discovered that they have turned a new leaf with every sign of remorse.

It stated "Nobody knows the sources of the recent murder cases within the union in both Lagos and Ondo States, but what the agents of destabilisation intend to do in our state may lead to bloodshed, which is why we want to appeal to the state government to call them to order.

"It must be emphasised as well that National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) of today has gone beyond the barbaric level of engaging in unnecessary bravado and act of thuggery to install leadership - which is why we equally appeal to our members not to allow themselves to be used to engage in any act capable of disrupting the peace of the state."
