Tribunal Fixes Feb. 15 For Adoption Of Counsel Addresses

26.01.2006

The Edo State Election Petitions Tribunal on Friday fixed February 15 for the adoption of written addresses by counsel in a petition filed by Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, the Action Congress (AC) governorship candidate.

This followed the closure of the defence by Mr. Ighodalo Imadegbelo (SAN) counsel to Governor Oserheimen Osunbor and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after calling 29 witnesses.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Chief Adeniyi Akintola (SAN), counsel to Oshiomhole, had called 61 witnesses, while Roland Otaru (SAN), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) counsel, called three witnesses.

Justice Olabanji Orilonise, the tribunal chairman, thanked both counsel in the petition for conducting themselves peacefully during the proceedings.

Orilonise urged them to comply with the 10 days given them within which they are expected to prepare their written addresses.
