Allardyce needs more time Obafemi tells Newcastle chiefs

SAM Allardyce is under pressure at Newcastle, which he joined this summer, after an underwhelming start in the St James’ Park hot-seat.
Allardyce watched his Magpies slump to a 0-3 home loss on Saturday shatterring further Newcastle’s chances.

However, one of his leading players wants the Toon board to keep faith with Allardyce... Nigeria striker, Obafemi Martins is urging the Newcastle United board to back Allardyce.

Allardyce has come in for criticism as the Magpies have failed to build on a promising start to the campaign, and slipping down the table on the back of the sort of inconsistency their fans are depressingly familiar with. Those fans were expecting something different from Allardyce.

However, Obafemi believes Allardyce has got the club heading in the right direction and wants him to be given time to bring about the longed-for renaissance on Tyneside. “Sam does things a little differently to other managers and we have had to get used to that,” Martins told The Daily Express. “But it is all good.

“All the players are happy under Sam and we all like the way he does things. “People have to give him time, maybe two or three years. There is no point losing faith in Sam because he will bring the best out of this team if he stays.”
