Enjoying the package called you(3)

YOU are the way you are because of what you were created to do. Sin and all pervert behaviour are nothing but a clear indication of a derailment of purpose.

Animals don’t sin. Trees don’t. As promiscuous as dogs are reputed to be, male dogs don’t mate with themselves. Orange trees don’t produce pawpaw. You know why? These creatures are all locked into their purpose. The orange tree does not envy the pawpaw tree.

Each simply supplies what has been put in it for the rest of creation. Imagine Bill Gates trying to compete with Tiger Woods at playing golf. Or Woods trying to outdo Gates in operating software design! If one of them is interested in what the other is doing, he would have to depend on the other for the gratification of that interest.

The principle works at every level of life. Getting angry because someone else is succeeding at the realization of his own dispensation is nothing but a waste of precious time at three levels – God’s, yours and ours!

In Hosea 4:6, The Holy Bible (I still wonder why some people refer to it as the Good Book when that is not its title. In my literature class, I was taught that it is intellectually fraudulent not to accurately refer to a book by its appropriate title! Yes the Book is good, but let’s call a spade by its real name.

If I can quote the title of a book by its title, what’s the offence in calling The Holy Bible by the title under which it is published?) states that people are destroyed because they lack knowledge. Knowledge does not give light. Knowledge is light.

Your decision to walk in the degree and brightness of the light of revelation available to you is what it takes to make you an unstoppable force.

The moon is highly successful because it is faithful in reflecting the light that it receives. The purpose of discovery is to give you a picture of an expected future.

Why? There is no expectation of a future without a picture. It is only what a man sees that he can seize. You can’t find what you have not defined.

Don’t just mark years. Create MOMENTS
A fortnight ago when I picked up the in-flight magazine on a flight from Paris , it was more out of boredom and a time-killing strategy than for any interest in learning. I did so more out of reflex than intent, considering the fact that I had done 6 hours of night time flying from Nigeria without sleep, spent 3 hours at the airport in Paris and still had almost 10 hours of flying to get to my destination.

As I randomly flipped through the magazine, something jumped right out of the page and jolted me heavily enough to steal my sleep for a couple of hours thereafter. I read it carefully and slowly. It said, “Years fly, but moments last forever”.

God offers us milestones to celebrate on the journey but we are sometimes too preoccupied to notice them, because for many of us, we are not too conscious of a destination and so milestones may not really mean much.

The birth of your children, a trip, graduation, a promotion, a marriage, the entry of that special someone into your life, a new job, a new car, a momentous decision to turn your life around, etc., are all events to create moments from. According to Tony Robbins, if your life is worth living, it is worth recording.

Celebrate yourself and create great moments doing so. Last week in Hawaii, I went with a few friends with whom I was facilitating a seminar for Leaders from about 25 countries to a place on the island of Maui known as Lahaina.

We specifically went to a restaurant named Bubble Gump to have some seafood. It was an interesting experience watching the sea waves crashing in from the beach view provided by the restaurant. I ate the most expensive –but delicious - seafood dinner I have had in a long time.

I had to close my eyes to the exchange rate and just savour the moment. Not far from that restaurant is a tree that occupies ONE ACRE of land! A wonder of nature worth seeing. I still treasure those moments. I have been to Lahaina before, but never created such memorable moments out of the experience. Now I know better…continued
