Olubadan elevates 17 women chiefs

Seventeen eminent women in Ibadanland, who were recently promoted on the Iyalode traditional chieftaincy line, are to be formally installed at a ceremony at the Olubadan’s palace at Aremo, Ibadan, tomorrow at 10.00 a.m.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, Prince Oyedotun Oloyede, said the newly promoted chiefs included Chief (Mrs.) D.A. Amoo, a businesswoman, who moved from Ashipa Iyalode to Iyalaje of Ibadanland.

The list also include a former president of the Nigerian Bar Assocaition (NBA), Chief (Mrs.) P. O. Kuye; a former minister, Chief (Mrs.) Onikepo Akande and a permanent secretary in the Oyo State public service, Chief (Mrs.) Kudirat Adeleke.

Others are the wife of the former governor of Oyo State, Chief (Mrs.) Mutiat Ladoja and a former commissioner in the state, Chief (Dr.) Mojisola Oyebola.

Former registrar of the University of Ibadan, Chief (Mrs.) Mojisola Ladipo, according to the release, has also been elevated to the position of Oota Iyalode of Ibadan.

The ceremony, which will be presided over by the Olubadan, Oba Samuel Odulana, will be attended by the Iyalode of Ibadanland, Chief (Mrs.) Aminat Abiodun and other high chiefs.
