Adedibu wanted me as Oyo gov - Adedoja

GOVERNORSHIP candidate of the Action Congress (AC) in Oyo State in the 2007 election, Professor Taoheed Adedoja, has said the late Chief Lamidi Adedibu wanted him to be the governor of the state, but for some problems that arose along the line.

Prof. Adedoja said this when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late political icon at their Molete residence on Thursday.

Adedoja said “baba regretted not allowing me to be governor in 2003 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and he apologised openly to me for doing that and as a Muslim, I accepted his apology wholeheartedly.”

According to him, “some of the lessons learnt from the late Alhaji Adedibu are sincerity and loyalty to leaders and why it is important to forgive whoever that has done any bad thing to you because he may turn around and do some good things too.”

He said when he heard the news of Chief Adedibu’s death in the United States of America, he felt so sad because “baba happened to be a meeting point in the political arena in Nigeria.”

Adedoja, who was received by one of the widows of the late chief, Bose, and his son, Senator Kamorudeen Adedibu, later prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed.

Responding, Senator Adedibu commended Prof. Adedoja and also prayed for him for his steadfastness.
