Club officials grumble - Over Super 8 date

Obaseki, NFL bossOfficials of clubs that took part in the just ended Globacom Super Eight in Kano have condemned the timing of the competition.

In separate chats with Globacom League Update, most of the club officials pointed out that the glamour that would have greeted the competition could not be achieved owing to its timing.

Officials of Heartland FC of Owerri, Gateway FC of Abeokuta and Sunshine Stars of Akure said their clubs were not prepared enough for the

competition which they argued should have been pushed forward to a few weeks to the commencement of new season. According to some of the club officials, they had to call their players from (off season) break which they had proceeded on since the 2007/08 season ended.

“This is a noble idea to develop the game and we are hoping that a lot of things will be taken into consideration in subsequent competitions,” said Cajetan Nkwopara, Heartland’s Media Officer, who added that, “my team would have performed better if it had been given enough time to prepare.”
