through e-payment
Olayinka Olukoya, Abeokuta - 25.06.2008
Ogun State governor, Chief Gbenga
Daniel, on Tuesday, in Abeokuta, the state capital, said that civil servants in the state would as from the end of this month, receive their salaries through e-payment.
The governor said this during the meeting of the National Computer Society of Nigeria (NCSN), held at the Valley- View auditorium, that the initiative was part of the effort of his government to ensure that the State remained one of the best in the area of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Speaking through his Special Adviser on ICT, Mr.Soji Akin-Bankole, the governor described the development as a very unique opportunity.
”The introduction of the e-salary in the state will not only ensure prompt payment of salaries but will eliminate delay,” he said.
On how this would be achievable, the governor said,”as soon as the salary gets to their account, they will get e-mail or text messages through their e-mail addresses or the mobile phone that their account have been credited.”
He added that the same method would be adopted for their pension contributions, which would be sent directly to their respective PFAs.
Governor Daniel expressed delight that his administration was the first in the country to achieve these efforts.
