ACF mourns 46 dead soldiers

THE Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) on Saturday joined other Nigerians in mourning the death of the 46 soldiers in an auto crash.

The soldiers died on Tuesday on the Potiskum-Bauchi road while returning from a peace-keeping mission in Darfur, Sudan.

In a statement in Kaduna, ACF National Publicity Secretary, Anthony Sani described the incident as a “national tragedy. “The soldiers were just returning from an extended tour of duty trying to stop the wanton killing and death of fellow human beings in Darfur region of Sudan.

“It is heart rending that human lives were wasted over avoidable territorial disputes or cruel conditions on the roads.’’ The forum commiserated with the bereaved families, colleagues and relatives as well as the government over the tragedy.

While praying for the repose of their souls, the ACF called on the government to urgently address the needs of the families of the deceased.
