S/W PDP parley with aggrieved members today in Ibadan

SOUTH West zonal leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will today meet in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, in its attempt at ensuring that all aggrieved members of the party, who are yet to fully return to its fold, are pacified and accommodated.
Sunday Tribune gathered from party sources, that the Oyo State Presidential Lodge,will be the venue of the peace and reconciliation meeting.

The zonal meeting of the party will, however, be preceeded by the peace and reconciliation meeting of aggrieved members of the party in the Oyo State chapter of the party before a general meeting which is expected to be addressed by former president, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Party source told Sunday Tribune that those expected at the peace meeting include former governor of the state, Senator Rasheed Ladoja, former deputy national chairman (South) and former governorship candidate of the party in the state, Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, former minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Chief Richard Osuolale Akinjide, former Minister of Power and Steel, Elder Wole Oyelese, Senator Lekan Balogun ,among numerous others.

Sunday Tribune gathered that because of the seriousness the zonal leadership of the party attaches to the peace meeting, Chief Obasanjo is expected to personally attend the meeting, where he is expected to address the aggrieved and other party members on the need to be united towards the progress of the party.

It was also learnt that, after the peace meeting, the zonal chapter of the party will deliberate on what is expected of the zone in the current political dispensation in the country. The meeting will also examine the recent developments in the polity as it affects the zone and take a position on it.

Those who are also expected at the meeting include, former deputy national chairman of the party, Commodore Olabode George, former South West chairman of the party, Chief Olayinka Omilani, all the governors in the zone and zonal leadership of the party.

When contacted, former Minister of Special Duties, Elder Wole Oyelese, confirmed being aware of the meeting, and promised to attend “all things being equal”.

It was also gathered from a close aide of a former governorship candidate of the party, Chief Adeojo, that the former national deputy chairman of the party (South, would be part of the meeting “because of the respect he has for the current national leadership of the party and former president,Chief Olusegun Obasanjo”.
