‘Ila FC proved a point beating Sharks’ - FA Cup

Surprise which is synonymous with the FA Cup was rekindled on Tuesday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin as Ila Orangun local government FC sent a premier league side, Sharks FC of Port Harcourt packing out of this year's FA Cup with a 4-3 defeat via penalties after a 1-1 draw at regulation time.

The amateur league side from Osun State being handled by veteran coach, Kayode Famuyide is set to meet the winner of Gombe United/ Adamawa United game. Speaking with Tribunesports, coach Kay as he is fondly called said the team was ready to make a mark this year in the competition known as the Challenge Cup.

"We were well-prepared for the match coupled with the fact that the boys are ready to market themselves and, this was the tonic that aided our victory over Sharks.

"In fact, we bank on self-motivation because the boys do not really depend on money to play. This victory I believe will turn the fortune of the team for the better," the former handler of Osun United and Crown FC said.

The coach who discovered Emmanuel Olisadebe who plays for Poland at the 2002 World Cup while in charge of Doyin Babes of Ilorin stated that the victory of his team was a testimony to the standard of the amateur league in the country addding that; a lot of people only believed in the Premier league.
