NIPOGA Games cost N35m

THIRTY-FIVE million naira has so far been expended by the host institution,The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, on the 15th edition of the 2008 Nigeria Polytechnic Games Association (NIPOGA) Games.

Making the declaration was the Rector of the host institution, Prof. Olawumi Ajaja, while addressing a press conference at the Afe Babalola Hall of the institution on Thursday.

Prof. Ajaja said the federal government approved N90m for the development of facilities, adding that out of the said amount, N25m was released while the institution was able to raise N10m locally.

"Federal government approved N90m for the development of facilities and we also have financial support from the ETF," said Prof. Ajaja, who also doubles as the president of NIPOGA Council.

The rector said the host institution which was known for its academic excellence accepted the hosting right for two reasons.These, he said, were to concentrate on the development of facilities for the students and put the institution on sports mark.

He also revealed that the NIPOGA Games were the first national sporting event to be hosted in Ekiti State.
