My education certificates are intact - Idris

Former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, at the weekend cleared the air on his credentials, stating that his educational papers were intact.

Idris, who spoke with journalists in Lokoja, said he only presented his secondary school leaving certification during his first term election while he included his certificate for the Bachelor of Law (LL.B) degree obtained from the University of Abuja for his second term election.

He said anyone who was doubful about his educational background was free to verify his claims from the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and the University of Abuja.

Idris debunked the claim that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) contemplated substituting his candidature for another person over the certificates issue.

According to him, his meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party in Abuja was to meet minds with the top echelon of the PDP on how the party could help him face the challenges in the rescheduled governorship election fixed for March 29.

Idris said he was confident of winning the election, adding that he had been assured of adequate security for voters.

“I am confident that the Independent Nationial Electoral Commission (INEC) will handle the election properly. It is going to be a free and fair election and I have been assured of adequate security for the voters. I am confident of winning in a free and fair election,” he said.
