Oba Tejuosho dissociates self from Iyalode saga

The Osile of Oke-Ona Egba, Oba (Dr) Adedapo Tejuosho, has distanced himself and his entire community from the removal of Chief(Mrs) Alaba Lawson as the Iyalode of Egbaland by the Alake -in-Council.

The monarch said this on Thursday at a press conference heralding his 70th birthday. Oba Tejuosho said that the decision by the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, to sack Mrs.Lawson was a unilateral one which did not enjoy the support of other sections of Egbaland.

Oba Tejuosho pointed out that there was disunity in the Egba community and urged all sons and daughters of the area to work together in the best interest of Egbaland.

He said “we must ensure that the righteousness of God is sought at any point in time.The removal of Chief (Mrs) Lawson does not enjoy the support of other sections of Egbaland.That is, the Egba Gbagura, Oke-Ona and Owu.

“My late mother, Chief (Mrs) Bisoye Tejuoso, was the third Iyalode of Egbaland and she died in 1996. Before she became the Iyalode, there was interregum for about 30 years. Also, before the second Iyalode Jojolola was installed after the death of the first Iyalode Tinubu, there was an interregum. .After five years of my mother’s death, intrigues set in and another Iyalode was installed.
