Fashola meets revenue agencies on 2008 budget

DETERMINED to ensure that the aims of the N403.4 billion 2008 appropriation budget aptly tagged “The Great Leap Budget” is achieved, Lagos State governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, on Friday convened a meeting of all agencies saddled with the task of generating revenue for the state on how the target of the budget could be achieved.

The meeting, which was chaired by the governor, reviewed the 2007 Internally Generated Revenue Performance and ministries, departments and agencies (MDA) projections for 2008. It also deliberated extensively on the way forward.

Addressing newsmen after the meeting, the state accountant general and permanent secretary of state treasury office, Mr Akin Ambode, declared that the internally generated revenue target of N152 billion for the 2008 fiscal year was attainable.

Mr. Ambode, who addressed newsmen alongside his counterpart in the Finance Ministry, Seyi Williams, and Managing Directors of Alpha Beta Company, Mr. Olumide Ogunmola, and Lands Records Company, Mr. Dele Ibrahim, said the goals of the budget were achievable.
