N/Assembly to review new terminal, other projects

The new multi-million naira terminal II of the Murtala Muhammed Local Airport has been identified as one of the major projects the Ministry of Transport and the National Assembly may review next year.

The development came as it had been discovered that contrary to the belief that the owners of the terminal would run the terminal for 36 years to enable it recoup the money spent on the project, the Federal Government had not signed any agreement on the number of years the managers will run the new terminal.

Sources said the last administration which approved of the project tactically refused to commit itself on the number of years the owners of the project would run the terminal.

Nigerian Tribune gathered at the weekend that the terminal II project fell under the projects to be reviewed following the discrepancies found in the area of the years the owners of the terminal would manage it before handing it over to the government.

Apart from the terminal II project, also to be reviewed was the Five Star Hotel under construction at the local airport by owners of the terminal II and the Four Star Hotel and motor park project approved by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at the international wing of the Lagos airport.

According to investigations, the Four Star Hotel of the project had been dropped, leaving only the car park aspect.
