Naira rain as Super 8 ends in Kano

Obaseki, NFL bossKANO Pillars FC aside from winning the just-concluded maiden Globacom Super Eight at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano last Sunday also went home with N5 million and other individual awards.

Pillars’ Theophilus Joel was adjudged the best goalkeeper of the tournament and carted home N100,000 as prize money, just as his teammate, Abdulwasiu Sowemimo got N200,000 as Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.

Also, the duo of Ahmed Garba Yaro Yaro and Bello Musa Kofarmata from the Kano side who both finished the tourney with two goals each got N250,000 just as Akpose Martins of Bayelsa United and Ogude Fensor of Warri Wolves who also scored two goals went home with the same amount each.

Warri Wolves which lost 2-3 in the final via penalties to the Pyramid Boys took home N3 million as prize money. Sunshine Stars of Akure went home N200,000 as Best Behaved team, while Kaduna United went home with N200,000 as Best Dressed team of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Nigeria Football League (NFL), Chief Oyuki Obaseki has said 50 per cent of the gate takings realised from the final of the competition will be donated to charity homes. The NFL board had visited four charity homes in Kano on Monday.
