A night with Faze, Olu Maintain at Pinnacle Nite Club, Calabar
By David Ajiboye - updated: Friday 13-06-2008

Olu Maintain and Faze in a group photograph
with
some Celtel staff Last weekend,
Pinnacle Nite club,
owned by Mirage Hotel, Calabar was a place to be as one of Nigeria’s mobile telephone giants, Celtel Nigeria, decided to move their ongoing nationwide Find Your Rhythm (fyr) musical show to Calabar.
And the best choice in the tourists destination city was Pinnacle Nite Club and to get the fun seekers screaming, they introduced Faze on stage and the guests reached out to dance to some of his monster-hit tracks like Kolomental, No send me etc.
Not done with the deliberate resolve to thrill the fun loving Calabar people, Celtel Nigeria on whose bill Nigerian musical stars are performing at selected nite clubs in the cointry, introduced the Yahozee crooner, Olu Maintain to perform and if the guests at the club where charged and excited for Faze, they went wild for Olu Maintain, particularly the ladies. And when he started giving out cash in dollars, pounds and Naira, some ladies did not mind when he decided to tuck in the cash in between their breasts.
Apart from the live performance by the artistes, DJ was also at hand giving out different tunes and rhythms.
Did all find their rhythm as intended by Celtel, all the guests interviewed answered in the affirmative and Celtel’s Head of Department- Brands, Miss Tola Macgregor explained that Celtel’s idea of organising the nationwide fyr is taking fun and meeting their customers, as well as all Nigerians where ever they are.
Whoever you are, you can find your rhythm and we believe choosing nite clubs as venues in cities round Nigeria where we go. The programme also affords our numerous customers the opportunity of meeting their stars one-on -one

TGIF sets Aquarium Nite Club, Abuja on fire
By David Ajiboye

Soul Quest dance crew, winner of the Abuja
region of Malta Guinness Dance AfricaThe residents of Abuja were in for a
treat, and one thing was for certain,
it was not just any other Friday for the invited guests at the Aquarium Nite Club, Sheraton Hotel and Towers.
The occasion- the Abuja version of the Gordon’s Spark sponsored Thank Gordon’s Its Friday (TGIF) party. Making an encore in the city, the delectable brand from the house of Guinness Nigeria plc, left no stone unturned in its efforts to ensure the event was a huge success.
And so it turned out to be. From the choice of the city, mode of admittance, the venue and down to the revellers, there was a consistent touch of style, lifestyle, class and a sense of the contemporary.
One way, through which this was evident, was the involvement of Soundcity; a contemporary music and lifestyle channel with the TGIF. Starting with Yeancah; a presenter with the music channel, who epitomised fashion, style and radiated with splendour, the station’s cameras beamed its searchlight on guests who turned out gorgeously dressed and gracefully walked down the red carpet.
Another factor that contributed in no small way to the success of the Abuja TGIF was the unique mode of admittance to the event; by way of invitation. This ingenuity by Gordon’s Spark rather than been seen as a slight by the guests, served as an opportunity for both guests and Gordon’s Spark to bond together, by indirection reflecting the true essence of the party.
To further illustrate in vivid terms that the brand was truly ‘the taste of style’, all the stylish guests that came identified with it by clutching and having sips of Gordon’s Spark; a drink which suites perfectly with their everyday life and sense of style, as they made their way into the club. Others too were rewarded with Gordon Spark’s bandanas and wristbands.
The ambience and aura at the venue of the event, Aquarium Nite club was simply breathtaking, having all the majestic trappings of royalty with the disco lights blending perfectly with décor of the hall and the silhouette of the dancers to form an ethereal feeling. The DJ turned out to be the main attraction of the night, as he endlessly churned out track after track of hit tunes that kept the dancers jumping to the beats till the break of dawn.
Making his observations at the event, Mr Toruka Osadunkwu, Brand Manager, Gordon’s Spark affirmed: ‘‘Gordon’s Spark is a drink for a select group of people at special events. This group of guests we have here are special because they have a discerning taste for quality, which the drink offers. It is a drink that gives you the freedom to be whom you really are. It lets that free spirit that is in all of us to be let loose. The brand is all about our attitude.’’
The guests likewise who partied, drank and totally immersed themselves in the spirit of brand could not help but comment on the brand and its party.
