THE Osun State governor, Prince
Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has called for the repackaging of the country's football policy for the betterment of the game.
He made the call during the kick off of the fourth edition of the Lagun Oyinlola Unity Cup where Otin Babes trounced Mindset of Ilesa 4-0. The competition is being organised yearly to foster unity among the local government areas in the state.
Oyinlola said a review of the policy had become imperative in view of the emerging development in the sector advising that; for the country to take its righful place among the comity of football nations; talents across the country must be discovered and harnessed for the purpose of taking football to the highest level.
Oyinlola, who was represented at the occasion by the state Commissioner for Tourism, Mr. Obafemi Fagbola, pointed out that the nation could always be on top if the right things were done the way they should be.
"There was the need for concerted effort to be made by football stakeholders to relaunch the country's football because football in the country has nosedived and it needs to be relaunched," he said.
