Man arrested with fresh human head in Ibadan

A man who disguised as a lunatic was arrested with a decomposing human skull, human brain and a GSM handset on Sunday at Molete in Ibadan South West Local Government Area of Oyo State.

According to the Nigerian Tribune investigation, the incident occurred under the flyover at Molete at about 10:30a.m. when some residents and passers-by observed that the suspect, who was later identified as Sango Olojo, from Onikoko Compound, Igbonla Street of the city, was being followed by flies.

It was also gathered that a wrapper, a piece of charmed stick and a machete were also found in a “Ghana must go” bag he was said to be carrying. When the suspect, now detained at Orita Challenge Divisional Police Headquarters, was asked to explain the contents of his blood-stained bag, he was said to have retorted that “why are you bothering me or are you policemen?”

This reply was said to have heightened the curiosity of the crowd that had gathered around the ‘mad’ man and they descended on him, overpowered him after which the bag was forced open.

An eyewitness told the Nigerian Tribune that several attempts by the crowd to make the suspect talk were allegedly rebuffed as he refused to talk and also failed to reveal his names.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that when the crowd could not extract information from the man, they decided to call the police to prevent him from being set ablaze by the mob.

The witness said “we called the police at the Area Command’s Control Room, Eleyele, Ibadan, which sent a signal to Orita Challenge police station. They then sent men who came and affected his arrest with all the things found on him.”

An attempt by the Nigerian Tribune to speak with the suspect was turned down by the Orita Challenge Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Clement Ezeh Ifedikwa.

He said the suspect was still undergoing preliminary interrogations to ascertain how he came about the items found on him. However, a police source told the Nigerian Tribune that the suspect’s GSM handset rang at about 2.15p.m. while the suspect was busy asking for a glass of water to drink.

“Our efforts to make the caller to speak with the suspect were not successful as the caller was said to have switched off the phone immediately when the caller was asked to speak with Pa Sango Olojo,” said the source.
