TOS: FG sets up Publicity Committee

The Minister of Information, Chief John Odey, on Saturday set up a publicity committee for the burial of late Chief TOS Benson.

The burial is slated for Feb. 27 Odey announced the setting up of the committee when he paid a condolence visit to the family of late Benson in his Falomo, Ikoyi residence.

Odey was accompanied by the Minister of State for Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Nakande and some chief executives of government-owned media.

According to the Minister, Mr Ben Egbuna, the Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), will head the committee.

Other members of the committee include the Director General of the NTA, Dr. Tonnie Iredia, D-G of Voice of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Jijiwa.

Benson held several elective positions under the National Council of Nigeria and Cameroon (NCNC) and was conferred with the National Honour of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) in 1983.

Late Benson, who served as post-independent Nigeria's first Minister of Information and Culture, died on Wednesday Feb. 13, in his Falomo, Ikoyi residence in Lagos. He was aged 90.
