‘I have confidence in judiciary’

THE Presidential Candidate of the Action Congress, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has expressed confidence in the Judiciary.

Atiku, who spoke to newsmen shortly after he arrived at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport in Abuja from a sojourn in Dubai and the UK, expressed the hope that the judiciary would deliver. Atiku was received by scores of party supporters and well wishers.

"So far, we have confidence in the judiciary, but will however, wait for the judgement of the Presidential Election Tribunal on Tuesday,'' he noted.

Atiku media spokesman, Alhaji Garba Shehu, however, noted that it was the duty of the tribunal to do the right thing, since the April 21, 2007 elections were marred with irregularities.

"Does the tribunal have the will to cancel the elections since it had fallen short of the constitutional requirements?

"We have done everything required by the law and so are optimistic that we will win this case,'' Shehu, who spoke on behalf of Atiku said.

At the Airport to receive Atiku were Alhaji Lawal Kaita, Chairman AC Board of Trustees, Abiye Sekibo, former Minister of Transport, Otunba Fashola, among others.

Supporters, who were earlier refused entry to the lobby of the international wing had condemned the action by security operatives.

Ahmed Yusuf, AC gubernatorial candidate in Taraba State condemned the action of the policemen, saying "we have the right to go in, where is the rule of law?.''
