Man, wife, 4-month-old baby die in another Ibadan kerosene explosion

A 29 year-old-man,
Bamidele Alex; his
wife Elizabeth; and their four-month-old-baby were among the eight people who died in a kerosene explosion that occured in Olodo area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Wednesday.
Also affected in the explosion were one Mrs. Halimat Musbau and her four-year-old son while other yet-to-be identified victims were on danger list at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
Speaking with journalists on the development, the Assistant Director, Burns Care Unit of the UCH, Mrs.Emem Etuk, said the incident, a second in two weeks, occured on Tuesday when some residents attempted to refill their lanterns and stoves with kerosene suspected to be adulterated.
At the hospital, however, it was gathered that no fewer than five people died on Monday and Tuesday while medical experts were battling to save the lives of 11 others.
Two petrol stations in Olodo had been shut by the Department for Petroleum Resources for (DPR) for selling adulterated kerosene.
