23.07.2008

THE launch of the Kwara State Association of Nigerians (KWASANG UK) in Great Britain will take place on Saturday.

The event, which will be held in London, will be attended by a delegation of community leaders from Kwara State, led by Governor Bukola Saraki, members of the state executive council and some local government chairmen.

Tony Tetuila, a celebrated afro-hip star, is expected to make a guest appearance at the event, which kicks off at 3.00 p.m.

It will feature business exhibitions, an interactive session, cultural display and dinner/dance.

The General Secretary of the association, Mr. Kayode Olaoye, described the launch activities as an exciting and landmark opportunity to revive the spirit of togetherness and harmonious union among Kwara State indigenes in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
He said the event “expects to be stimulated by a rich display of

culture, education and entertainment for which Kwarans are renowned.”

KWASANG UK is a non-profit making association established for the promotion of education and charity in accordance with UK association law.

The association primarily aims to promote a positive image for the well-being of Kwara State indigenes and friends of Kwara State residing in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.

It aims to accomplish this by getting involved in the community through government-assisted and volunteer programmes, promoting understanding among Kwara indigenes at home and abroad, initiating and encouraging community projects, agitating for a responsible government in Kwara State and involvement in acts that promote the unity of Nigerians all over the world.
