I’ll uphold tenets of good govt and deliver dividends of democracy - Oshiomhole

Action Congress (AC) governorship candidate in the April 2007 governorship election in Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who was declared by the Election Tribunal sitting in Benin as the winner of the election has pledged his commitment to uphold the tenet of good governance and deliver on the dividend of democracy once he assumed office.

Oshiomhole, in his Easter Message pledged to be fully committed to good governance and democratic tenets, going by the outcome of the Edo State election tribunal judgment that clearly showed that justice and fairness still reigns supreme above corruption.

The former labour leader appealed to Nigerians, especially the people of Edo state to utilise the opportunity of the Easter period to rededicate themselves to the services of mankind and pray against forces of darkness that could impede the progress and development of the country.

The immediate past President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) affirmed that with collective effort and prayers the Nigerian project could work again.

He said: “Nigerians must pray to our Heavenly Father to touch the hearts of those who plan the reign of darkness for our country and for our state. Let us also pray to God to give us the wisdom, courage and the resolve that it will take to collectively put our state in the exalted position that was God’s original purpose for its existence”

Oshiomhole noted that it was not a coincidence that God chose the season of Eid Maulud and Easter to manifest His will in the affairs of the state through the ruling of the Edo State Election Tribunal which upheld the peoples’ mandate.

He urged the people to renew their faith in God that gives and restore hope and right all wrongs, adding, “we thank God for His intervention in our state.This season reminds us anew of the sacrifices of our Lord Jesus Christ to redeem mankind. It calls on us to re-dedicate ourselves to the injunctions of our Heavenly Father, especially His call on us to love our neighbours as ourself.”
