Former Oyo perm sec shot dead

A former permanent secretary in Oyo State, Chief Demola Oyadeyi, was on Friday night shot dead by unknown gunmen at Akobo area of Ibadan.

Chief Oyadeyi, who served both Alhaji Lam Adesina and Senator Rashidi Ladoja’s governments as a Permanent Secretary in various ministries up till last year, Sunday Tribune gathered, was attacked and gunned down in his petrol station, Demoya Filling Station, opposite Alegongo Primary School, Akobo around 7.30 p.m.

While confirming the incident, Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Ms. Bisi Okuwobi, described the incident as “pathetic and unfortunate.”

According to the police spokesperson, “the killers went to the filling station on a motorcycle at a time when the staffers of the filling station had rounded off and were counting the money realised from the sales of the day.

She stated further that “one of the two men alighted from the motorcycle and went straight to the man. On getting to him, he shot the man (Chief Oyedeyi) and later carted away the sun of N250,000 realised from the sales of their products for the day.

Okuwobi explained that before the Akobo Police could reach the scene of the incident, the suspected robbers had taken to their heels, adding that the police was still investigating the case.

It would be recalled that the owner of a filling station adjacent the DEMOYA OIL was also robbed and shot dead in his home at the Akobo area of the town some 18 months ago.

The remains of Chief Oyedeyi had been deposited at the University College Hospital (UCH) mortuary.
