Group raises alarm over Saturday by-election in Kogi

By Idowu Samuel - 23.03.2008

Barely a week to the governorship by-election in Kogi state, a group of indigenes drawn from the three Senatorial Districts are raising alarm on the spate of political thuggery and general insecurity in the state.

The group operating on the aegis of Concerned Citizens have therefore called on the President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to put a special attention in Kogi state as a means of preventing an unimaginable break down of law and order during the election.

In a press statement made available to Sunday Tribune in Abuja, the Kogi Concerned Citizens also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to re-deploy all it officials who conducted the April 2007 governorship election in the state and bring in new ones if its neutrality in the by-election is to be guaranteed.
