Osun To Establish Unesco Institute On Black Culture

THE Osun State government has assured UNESCO of its determination to establish an Institute for Black Culture and International Understanding in Osogbo.
A statement issued on Friday in Osogbo said that Gov. Olagunsoye Oyinlola gave the assurance in Paris on Thursday at a meeting with UNESCO officials.
The statement, signed by the Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Kayode Oladeji, said arrangements have been put in place by the federal and Osun governments to fund the institute.
The statement further said that some local and foreign organisations as well as educational institutions have pledged to support the institute.
It quoted Oyinlola as saying that his administration had invested about N118 million on the procurement and acquisition of the archives of renowned cultural experts, Prof. and Mrs Ulli Beier.
