‘Islam Has No Link With Terrorism’

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa‘ad Abubakar on Wednesday in Sokoto, said that Islam had no link with terrorism.

Sultan Abubakar, in a message to mark the Eid-el-Kabir called on security agents to hasten the investigation of people arrested on terrorism charges.

He said, “Islam is a peaceful religion and it preaches peace and love for one another irrespective of tribe religious and ethnic differences.”

“Anyone found guilty should be charged to court for the law to take its course, while those who are found innocent should be set free,” “Any Muslim who follows the teaching of his religion would not get involved in terrorism act,” he said.

The Sultan called on Muslims to not only respect the rights of their fellow Muslims, but also that of non-Muslims also living with them . He also urged muslims to strengthen their faith in God by adhering strictly to His commandments for their blessings.

The Sultan further called on the three tiers of government to give priority to the issues of poverty and education.
