Chris Agbambu, Abuja - 22.05.2008
THE Independent
Corrupt Practices
and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has said that it has no position for Director of Operations in the act establishing the commission, but Head of Investigation.
The President Consultant (Media and Event), Mr. Folu Olamiti, in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, stated that various reports had erroneously referred to outgoing ACP Tunde Ogunsakin as ICPC’s Director of Operations.
According to him, “the commission wishes to set the records straight by stating that there is no such nomenclature as Director of Operations in ICPC’s structure nor is such a position provided for in the Act establishing the Commission.”
Mr. Olamiti, added that what ICPC has is a Head of Investigation, a position occupied by ACP Tunde Ogunsakin.
He also stated that ICPC, as an independent institution, accepted the posting of officers to it, especially that of ACP Seritoye Leroy Wakama, adding that such posting was subject to the approval of the commission.
Mr. Olamiti noted there was no restructuring going on in ICPC.
The incoming of Head of Investigation, ACP Wakama, was born in 1957 in Okrika, Rivers State.
He holds a B.A. History and Political Science from University of Arwick, Coventry, England.
Wakama, a seasoned detective, has served in the presidency and various parts of the country.
