Adedibu in hospital for check-up - Aide

The visit of Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, to the Reddington Hospital, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Tuesday has been said to be for a “follow-up medical check up.”

Although most hospital officials declined to comment on the purpose of his visit when the Nigerian Tribune visited on Wednesday, it was gathered from a reliable source that the visit was on his doctor’s advice.

According to the source, Chief Adedibu, who is said to be suffering from diabetes and old age-related diseases, needed close monitoring. There was apprehension following the visit of Chief Adedibu to the same hospital where he was discharged less than three weeks ago.He was said to be at the hospital for more than five hours on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, one of the aides of the politician, Alhaji Yahaya Adetunji, who confirmed Adedibu’s visit to the hospital to Nigerian Tribune in a telephone interview, said the mission of the PDP chieftain was nothing more than “routine medical check-up.”

According to Adetunji, since it was no longer news that the octogenarian was admitted to the hospital for medical attention a few weeks ago, it was natural for him to go for check-up to ascertain the state of his health as any other human being would have done.

“People don’t have to make a mountain out of a molehill over Baba’s health. It is natural that anyone who obtains medical treatment goes for medical check-up a few days after”, he said.
